Because the average farmer\u003cbr\u003ein Burundi owns 1\/8–1\/4 a hectare of land, many smallholder farmers will\u003cbr\u003edeliver their fresh cherry to a washing station in order to be sorted and\u003cbr\u003eprocessed; microlots, then, are blended lots comprising coffees from many\u003cbr\u003eproducers that express exquisite coffee, but are not generally traceable to\u003cbr\u003ethe individual producers.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Rubagabaga Washing Station is located in the Kayanza region of Burundi\u003cbr\u003eand is named after the hill it sits on. Many producers from around the region\u003cbr\u003econtribute to this washing station. Much of Rubagabaga’s fame and\u003cbr\u003ereputation comes from an abundance of banana trees in the region.
